PRINT, TYPOGRAPHY, VISUAL HIERARCHY
I was directed to design a poster that had a comforting feeling to it. I chose to include a phrase, Remember to Rest, and decided to pair it with a collage of butterflies.
PROCESS
I started by choosing a series of butterfly images that I thought would work well together for the background, main imagery, and accents. I brought them into photoshop and experimented with gradient maps, thresholds, and other image treatments.
COLOR SYSTEM
After experimenting with different color palette options, I decided on a pink and blue pastel theme. I chose this palette as the final because of how nicely it complimented the soft imagery and title of the poster.
TYPE SYSTEM
Since I wanted the title and the imagery to stand out, I chose a bold sans-serif to compliment the large imagery. I decided to replace a few letters with script letters to add a sense of playfulness and experimentation to the piece.
FINAL DESIGN
The final version is an experimental graphic poster entitled, '‘Remember to Rest”. Butterflies and flowers were chosen for the main imagery since they are both symbols of growth and hope. Overall, these elements were intended to inspire feelings of comfort and inspiration.
