TYPEFACE

TYPOGRAPHY III CLASS

3D SOFTWARE, TYPOGRAPHY DESIGN

I designed this 3D typeface in Procreate, Illustrator, and Blender. I chose to do this for my typography class project in order to learn more about 3D design and animation. This image shows the pink chrome typeface applied onto a tote-bag.

PROCESS

I started by creating the silhouette of the letter forms in procreate. I then exported the procreate file into Adobe Illustrator and vectorized each letter.

3D SOFTWARE

This project required me to learn Blender, a 3D and animation software. I imported the extruded letters into Blender from Illustrator and then applied the chrome texture to each one.

ANIMATION

I also applied a short animation to each letter using Blender’s animation section. I learned how to use key frames and light subjects in Blender in order create this short animation that brings the letters to life. Each letter animation can be viewed on Instagram: @sophia_baligad_15weekstype

FINAL DESIGN

Overall, this typeface is intended to give a futuristic Y2K feeling where it is applied. I chose a subtle pink/purple shade in order to give it a feminine touch. I chose to use apply it to conceptual concert merch for Victoria Monet, an r&b singer.
